Epsom Village residents visit Auckland Museum
Epsom Village residents visited Auckland War Memorial Museum on Thursday the 10th of June. Following complimentary morning tea, the guide led them through "Tamaki Herenga Waka", the new permanent suite of galleries that explore the past, present and future of Auckland, its people and the cultures that have made the city what it is today.
Louise Matthews is one the residents who joined the trip to one of New Zealand's most important museums and war memorials.: “We experienced a nostalgic moment when we viewed a cabinet displaying familiar Crown Lynn designs”. Auckland Museum holds over 2000 pieces of New Zealand’s finest pottery from Crown Lynn, with highlights such as Swan Vases, Toby Jugs, animal models and household dinnerware in a myriad of designs.
Another highlight of the visit was the interactive lighting display area covering a wide range of statistical data, such as the sites of old pubs, and the most common given names in specific suburbs.
