"I can only hope to retire somewhere as beautiful as this."

The construction of The Avenue Apartments has just been completed, offering 61 luxury homes designed for private, independent retirement living.

This morning, MP for Tāmaki, Brooke van Velden, visited the brand-new, high-end apartments to participate in the official inauguration. Accompanied by Real Living’s director, Chris Murphy, and The Avenue Sales Manager, Claire Hutchinson, the Minister had an exclusive tour of the spacious two- and three-bedroom apartments, which will soon be available for purchase.

Designed to the highest standards, The Avenue Apartments offer some of the most spacious layouts in Remuera, with options ranging from one to three bedrooms, and sizes reaching an impressive 163m².

Brooke van Velden was not only highly impressed by the size of the apartments but also by the breathtaking 360-degree views from the balconies. The premium building seamlessly integrates into a fabulous open atrium area for bowls, and is just a short stroll away from the beautifully maintained gardens, home to more than 150 species of roses and an equal number of camellias.

As part of the renowned Remuera Gardens community, residents of The Avenue Apartments will enjoy access to exceptional facilities, fostering an active and engaging lifestyle. From the heated pool and spa to the well-equipped gym and intimate 45-seat tiered cinema, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The tour concluded at the social pavilion, a vibrant hub where future Avenue residents will gather over coffee or a glass of wine. There, the Deputy Leader of the ACT Party met with residents already enjoying life at Remuera Gardens, who had been invited to celebrate the building’s inauguration.

During her speech, the Minister recalled her previous visit to Remuera Gardens while campaigning for election two years ago, sharing how warmly she remembers the residents:

"I had the real pleasure this morning of going around some of the facilities upstairs, and I think you’re going to be stunned when you see them. I was. It’s even nicer than my house! And I can only hope to retire somewhere as beautiful as this."

At the conclusion of her speech, Minister Brooke van Velden unveiled the plaque that officially marks the opening of the building.

Afterwards, Remuera Gardens residents were treated to an exclusive tour of the show apartments before they are formally introduced to the wider community at the Grand Opening on Wednesday, March 12, with guided tours at 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 3:00 PM.

If you’d like to learn more about The Avenue Apartments, reserve your spot at the Grand Opening and be among the first to experience this stunning new addition to Remuera Gardens.

Movement and Mindfulness

At Real Living, we are always exploring new ways to improve the well-being of our residents and staff. One of our latest initiatives, the Holistic Dance Exercise Programme (HDEP), is an innovative, evidence-based project developed by our Group Culture, Care, and Quality Manager, Reign Marcial. Rooted in academic research and inspired by established practices from the Alzheimer’s Society in the UK, this programme integrates movement, meditation, and structured exercise to support cognitive function, balance, and fall prevention among older adults.
