Welcome back to our family and friends
For ten months, the Traffic Light system helped keeping our villages safe. When Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced its ending at the beginning of September, Epsom Village decided to throw a big party to celebrate the return to normality.
The Welcome Back party happened last Thursday, with the residents inviting family and friends to join the fun. Even if the weather is still very inconsistent, the village’s outdoor pool was open – and heated to a nice warm temperature! With the school holidays going on, several children took the opportunity to jump into the pool and play for a couple of hours.
When the New Zealand government introduced the Traffic Light System in December 2021, Real Living villages applied all the restrictions to keep our residents safe. This meant that for a few months the residents’ families and friends couldn’t access the common areas of our villages.
That’s why it was a momentous day for the village; to finally welcome back family and friends to the Lounge to enjoy the Thursday Happy Hour.
At Epsom Village the residents love to dance so they invited back one of their favourite’s bands, the High Jacks. The group played catchy melodies and old-time favourites that got most of the residents up on their feet to “boogie”.
The residents were thrilled to have their families back in the Lounge enjoying the company of their neighbours and good friends. A memorable occasion that Epsom Village is most certainly going to repeat.
