Floral shirts and light tunics to celebrate the arrival of spring

The days are longer and the temperatures are slowly warming up, so we’re all feeling tempted to store our winter clothes away in the wardrobe. At Warkworth Oaks they celebrated the arrival of spring with a Fashion Show in conjunction with clothing store Sophie Pink.

Four residents volunteered as models to showcase the garments, including stylish shirts with floral prints, comfortable light tunics and elegant gowns for a sophisticated night out.

The Parade was hosted at the Warkworth Hotel, which is adjacent to our retirement village. The Southgate Room with its elegant chimney was the perfect backdrop to highlight the stylish designs on show.

Clothing store Sophie Pink has already organised several fashion shows at other Real Living villages. The brand’s director, Ivan Nagel, knows how to turn these events into a fun and relaxed occasion with his down-to-earth demeanour and his cheeky sense of humour. The models showed a great deal of naturality even if it was their first time in the catwalk, and they were all enthusiastically supported by the spectators.

Following the parade, the attendees had the opportunity to purchase garments from a range of 280 styles on display, onsite, all discounted 70% OFF retail prices. With all sizes available, the prices ranged from $19 to $59.

Movement and Mindfulness

At Real Living, we are always exploring new ways to improve the well-being of our residents and staff. One of our latest initiatives, the Holistic Dance Exercise Programme (HDEP), is an innovative, evidence-based project developed by our Group Culture, Care, and Quality Manager, Reign Marcial. Rooted in academic research and inspired by established practices from the Alzheimer’s Society in the UK, this programme integrates movement, meditation, and structured exercise to support cognitive function, balance, and fall prevention among older adults.

"I feel very privileged"

"I feel very privileged living at Pakuranga Park because you can't get anything like this in Auckland," says Colleen, who moved to the village two years ago. With her love of hobbies and traveling in her motorhome, she needed plenty of space—and found it in one of the village’s spacious villas. For those seeking a retirement village that offers safety, companionship, and the freedom to pursue their passions, Pakuranga Park is the perfect choice.
