Fifty residents participated in the village's first ever walking rally
Around fifty residents at Pakuranga Park participated in a very exciting Walking Rally around the village on Wednesday 9th of June. The course started at the Community Centre where the participants got a set of clues which they had to solve to know where to go next. The Rally took between half an hour and an hour to complete, depending on the walking speed and the breaks along the way. At the end of the “race” the competitors enjoyed a cup of delicious hot soup, a roll and ice cream.
The fifty residents were split into 18 teams.
The winners were The Odd Bods with Doreen, Denise and Helen.
The two runners-up were the Walking Stars (John and Christine, Ted and Noel), and BC (Bob and Cornelia).
The rally was organised by Mike and Marilynn Matthews, two Pakuranga Park residents who used to organise car rallies when they lived in the Costa Blanca in Spain. According to them this could have been the first ever walking rally in New Zealand so congratulations to the ones who participated in such a memorable occasion!
