Having fun and raising funds for breast cancer awareness

Wear It Pink is an annual event that invites people to wear pink clothing or accessories to show their support for breast cancer awareness and research. At the end of October, Remuera Gardens’ residents came together to support this important mission and make a positive impact.

Residents and staff at Remuera Gardens passionately embraced the cause, transforming the entire village into a sea of pink. The event was organised by Village Coordinator Louise Smith, who was very pleased with the result: “It really was heartwarming seeing so many of our residents and staff participate in what is a very worthy cause. Throughout the day we managed to raise the grand total of $175.70 which will be forwarded on to the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation on behalf of Remuera Gardens.”

Remuera Gardens chooses two different charities every year and their residents combine efforts to raise as much money as possible for them. All Real Living villages have a similar mission with the charities selected for this year including Blind Low Vision NZ, St John Ambulance Services and the Mental Health Foundation.
